MAKKAH: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has emphasized the mandatory possession of the “Nusuk” smart card for all pilgrims intending to enter the holy sites for the year 1445-2024.
This requirement extends to both pilgrims themselves and organizers responsible for managing pilgrims’ and workers’ affairs, with no exceptions. Those found in violation will be subject to penalties akin to those for breaching Hajj regulations and directives.
Through a series of announcements on its social media platforms, including Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), the Ministry has reiterated that the “Nusuk” smart card serves as a crucial identifier distinguishing conforming pilgrims from non-conforming ones. It has underscored that individuals lacking the card will be denied access to the holy sites.
Recently, the Ministry unveiled the “Nusuk” smart card, available in two paper versions for pilgrims to carry and a digital version accessible via scanning the code on the paper card using a smartphone camera. Emphasizing the card’s functionalities, the Ministry has highlighted its role in facilitating pilgrims’ movements and issuing alerts regarding departure dates. Additionally, pilgrims can utilize the card to evaluate services and lodge complaints.
Furthermore, the Ministry has reiterated its caution against falling victim to fraudulent Hajj campaigns advertised on various social media platforms across different countries. It has stressed that undertaking Hajj is only permissible through obtaining a Hajj visa issued by relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in coordination with Hajj Affairs offices in respective countries, or via the “Nusuk Hajj” platform for nations lacking Hajj missions.
